Setting Up the Future Rank Calculation on the Storefront
Providing customers with information that they are close to reaching the next rank can serve as motivation for additional purchases. Future rank calculation displays the expected next rank and the required spending amount or order count to reach it. For instance, if the customer is expected to reach Bronze in the next update, and Silver is the rank above Bronze, a message like “Spend USD150 more by the next update to reach Silver rank” can be displayed.
On the storefront, customers can view the conditions required to reach the next rank, as shown below. Configure the settings in the theme editor.
To preview the future rank calculation as it appears to customers, the login feature must be enabled.
If you haven’t set up customer login yet, go to Settings > Customer accounts > “Login link” and enable “Show login link in the header of the online store and at checkout”.
To preview the card appearance without logging in, enable Maintenance Mode.
To display the membership card on the account page, you need to use the "Legacy" login feature.
Shopify offers two types of customer account settings:
- Legacy: email address + password
- Customer Accounts: email address + one-time password
When using Customer Accounts, the account page is managed by Shopify and does not support the use of external apps.

As of March 25, 2025, the future rank calculation feature is in BETA. This feature is available only to stores that meet the following requirements.
- Set the rank evaluation timing to “MONTHLY” or “YEARLY”
- Only the following condition types can be used in rank settings:
- “Total purchase amount during the evaluation period”
- “Number of purchases during the evaluation period”
- “Points (Dokopoi)”
Note: “Customer Tag” cannot be used as a condition type.
- Set rank levels in descending order, from highest to lowest. Note: Use the “greater than or equal to” condition when setting up rank requirements, and make sure ranks are configured in descending order. Ranks will not display correctly if “equal to” or “less than or equal to” conditions are used.
The feature has an ON/OFF toggle in the admin dashboard.
Be sure to click the “Enable” button before setting up the future rank calculation.
How to Set Up the Future Rank Calculation
Executing the Future Rank Calculation
When the future rank calculation is enabled, it will automatically run at the end of each scheduled evaluation. Please note that the initial future rank calculation must be run manually.
Click “run the estimation manually”, then click the “Start future rank calculation immediately” button.
Theme Editor Settings
- Go to the Online Store page, then click “Customize” for the theme where you want to display the future rank calculation.
- On any page (the account page is recommended), click “Add section.” From the list of apps, select “Ranky – Membership Rank Status.”
- The Membership Rank Status app block will be added.
- Configure the settings within the Membership Rank Status app block, then click the “Save” button.
For details on the appearance of the future rank calculation, refer to “Adjust the Appearance of the Future Rank Calculation (Colors, Description, etc.)”.
- Check the final appearance on the storefront.
